Fun: Sometimes It’s Okay

I often find myself at odds with my academic mind and my reptilian brain. I know that, logically, every single happening can be a learning experience. If you are doing something that you cannot learn from it it is, in a sense, pointless. Or, rather, this is something I would have told you a couple years ago.

There is a certain merit in doing things for the sake of doing them. You don’t need to have some kind of ultimate goal or lesson plan laid out for every single activity or event– something I have come to learn in the last few years.

Although, one should not mistake enjoyment with flippancy. Choose what you do wisely and be alert, aware– you are on borrowed time. Take in your surroundings not as a surveyor, but as a photographer. You’re there to experience, not to do experiments (I’m a spiritual, lyrical individual).

The phrase “live a little” is paramount at the end of the day. I hate to spook you gang, but when you die you’ll be dead. I know, radical concept. But when you’re at the end of the line and you can see your stop do you really want to spend the last moments of your life wondering “what if?” Cliche as that may be cliches become cliches for a reason.

Go and have fun. Do something nuts. Go live.
